Meet Mike

My love of photography started in college when I started capturing the Detroit Fire Department in action. What began as a side hobby quickly became my main career interest after taking a summer photography class. At first I thought I wanted to just be a photojournalist, but as I learned about all the different opportunities I could have with a camera I decided to explore other options.

I received my bachelors degree in Studio Art(Photography) from Oakland University. Shortly after graduation, I got an unexpected internship doing product photography for a plumbing part manufacturer. It’s not something I ever saw myself doing, but it’s help me grow in my lighting and overall technique and I’m still doing freelance work with them almost 10 years later.

My entire internship I was always looking out for more opportunities and I eventually ended up being a contributing photographer for the Detroit Metro Times. From there I was able to get into concert photography I’ve been fortunate to have photographed some of the biggest artists in the world. The connections I made while photographing shows lead me to gain more corporate clients including The Detroit Pistons and The Detroit Lions as part of their freelance photo teams. 2025 will be my 10th season with The Detroit Lions.

When I first started out I never wanted to be a Wedding or “people” photographer. After helping out friends a few times I quickly came to love it and photographing people at all different events is still one of my favorite things to do. Capturing memories for people has become one of my biggest passions and I can’t see myself doing anything else. From headshots to weddings or special events. I’d love to be the one to capture the moments for you.
